This past week hasn’t been easy. Whatever range of emotions you may be experiencing, know that it is okay to take a break and take a breath. You are not alone.
Here at AAPI Equity Alliance, we convened our member organizations to be in community, express our frustrations, and share information and resources. Together, we produced a Post-Election Resource Guide containing mental health and anti-hate resources for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). If you or someone you know is in need of support, please view and share this resource guide. It will be continuously updated with new resources.
As a coalition dedicated to improving the lives of AAPIs in Los Angeles County and beyond, AAPI Equity Alliance is bracing for the imminent threats posed by a Trump administration. Now more than ever, we must band together. And while we roll up our sleeves, let us remember the indomitable spirit of resilience that has always been a hallmark of the AAPI community.
From the incarceration of Japanese Americans during the second World War, the Chinese Exclusion Act and Asiatic Barred Zone Act that separated generations of families, the colonization and dispossession in the Pacific Islands, the mass surveillance and deportation of South Asians post 9/11, and the refugee experience of Southeast Asians fleeing war and genocide — we draw strength from our communities’ sacrifices and hardships to persist and thrive in America.
AAPI Equity Alliance is determined to confront the challenges ahead and build a more equitable future for all. Your well-being is crucial to this fight. Take care of yourself and explore our resource guide to get the support you need.
