AAPI Equity Alliance shares the grief of millions of Americans across the country concerned about the President-elect, whose campaign and previous administration harmed our communities and threatened our nation’s democracy.
We have seen firsthand what this looks like. In the wake of Trump’s racist rhetoric in 2020, which resulted in the surge of anti-Asian hate, we co-founded Stop AAPI Hate as the nation’s largest reporting center tracking anti-Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) hate. Fast forward to today, Project 2025 looms over our communities. We read through the 900 pages and are acutely aware of the real threats this ultra-conservative blueprint poses.
Our mission becomes more important than ever. And we cannot do this work without our member organizations and community members. Together, we improve the lives of AAPIs through civic engagement, capacity building, and policy advocacy.
AAPI Equity Alliance’s members and partners work tirelessly to empower our communities to use their voice in every level of the elections. We got out the vote by knocking door-to-door in ethnic communities with resources, hosting ballot parties to engage and educate voters, throwing festive events to celebrate AAPI culture, and more.
Here locally, we saw our efforts result in the passage of Measures DD & LL – long overdue reforms that include everyday Angelenos, including AAPIs, in the redistricting process for fair maps and fair representation. AAPI Equity Alliance is eager to work with the City of Los Angeles to ensure AAPI perspectives are included in the process.
When we work together, we see the results of our fortitude. Now is the time for us to be in solidarity and prepare to navigate the challenges ahead. Stay tuned, we are producing a 2024 Post-Election Resource Guide to equip AAPIs with the resources and information they need.
AAPI Equity Alliance continues to organize and mobilize to protect our communities’ safety, health, and rights. Our collective strength is our power.
