The Power of the Stop the Hate Collaborative
Under Stop the Hate, organizations are working together across different services, languages, and cultural needs to ensure all Angelenos can overcome hate. Wanda Pathomrit of Asian Pacific Counseling and Treatment Center and Deepa Talwar of St. John’s Community Health share how, together, they helped a group of Thai monks access legal services. Deepa, with her legal knowledge, and Wanda with her Thai language skills and community relationships, presented a Know Your Rights workshop. They shared safety and prevention measures regarding hate crimes and hate incidents, helping the monks stand up for their congregation in the face of hate from outsiders at their temple.
During a time of divisive, hateful policies, these partnerships, made possible through the Stop the Hate program, are vital in meeting the diverse needs of Los Angeles.
