As part of the effort to address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 in communities of color and low-income areas, The County of Los Angeles, through the Department of Public Health (DPH), the Department of Health Services (DHS), and in collaboration with Public Health Institute, have partnered to launch the following grants and health initiatives. As a recipient of these funds, AAPI Equity Alliance contracts with community-serving organizations within its collaborative to deliver targeted outreach and education to address these inequities.
- Community Health Worker Outreach Initiative
- Public Health Institute/WeVAX Project
- COVID -19 Community Equity Fund
Examples of outreach and education activities include:
- Disseminating information and other items (e.g., cloth face coverings) to
increase awareness of and promote COVID-19 prevention activities - Providing vaccine support services, which includes vaccine registration and
hosting mobile vaccine clinics in communities highly impacted by COVID-19 - Supporting System Navigators with linkage to care and support services for
individuals and families impacted by COVID-19
