How you can foster HOPE đź’™

Since the election, anti-Asian hate surged +66% online in domestic violent extremist (DVE) channels – like Reddit, X, and 4chan – according to Stop AAPI Hate’s latest data report. This is no coincidence as the Trump Administration doubles down on racist, anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies that harm our communities.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that you’re not alone. AAPI Equity Alliance is here for you. In order to sustain our collective fight over the next four years, we must prioritize our well-being.

Rest, joy, and hope have never been more necessary to our resistance! There’s a way to share the weight we’ve all been feeling, and lean on one another to promote radical healing.

AAPI Equity Alliance and our partners are looking for 18+ Asian and/or Asian Americans to join the Healing Our People through Engagement (HOPE) program, a six-week series of community conversations in English, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino/Tagalog and Khmer focused on healing from feelings of distress from current events and experiences of racism, discrimination, and hate.

No prior knowledge or experience is required! If you’re seeking a safe space to share your story and learn ways to engage with your community, then the HOPE program is for you. And, if you know someone who needs HOPE, please share this program with them.

“A first generation immigrant participant was able to reveal an incredible amount of pain that she was expressing for the very first time. Tears were shed as she shared how the microaggressions she faced — being outcast and made fun of for her cultural differences and her accent — affected her mental health.” – Joann Won, HOPE Program Facilitator

“The growth, gratitude, and warmth I felt from during the luncheon is a true testament to the transformational power HOPE has on the community. From understanding the layers of racism, beyond feeling different due to the color of their skin or limited English, to deeply connecting to the diverse Cambodian community, HOPE participants are empowered to advocate for change for their children and future generations.” – Miso Jang, HOPE Program Manager

This is our moment in history; how we choose to use our voice and power will be a testament to our resilience. Let us draw strength from our predecessors and ancestors who have, in their own moment in history, resisted injustice and persevered to create the progress we’re living in today.

Join us in fostering HOPE, built on radical joy and healing, to overcome the challenges on our path towards a more equitable, inclusive world for all.

With Gratitude,

The AAPI Equity Alliance Team
