How can we reimagine public safety for our communities?

We attended Stop AAPI Hate’s first in-person legislative briefing in Sacramento to reimagine public safety for communities of color. Despite the storm, we all came together in community to listen and learn from an amazing panel of leaders sharing their lived experiences of incarceration, harassment, and loss.

Thank you to the speakers, the California Asian & Pacific Islander (API) Legislative Caucus, and Stop AAPI Hate for elevating this important conversation as SB 434 is introduced in the California legislature. The new bill authored by, Senator Dave Min, builds on last year’s efforts to require California’s top ten transit agencies to collect survey data and create evidence-based safety strategies that will help targeted groups feel safe on public transportation.
