Celeste Shimoura Goedert – Program Manager

Celeste Shimoura Goedert (she/they) is a Program Manager at AAPI Equity Alliance, where she supports administration of the organization’s anti-hate initiatives, aiming to foster healthy and safe neighborhoods throughout California. 

Before joining AAPI Equity, Celeste served as the Director of Sustainable Little Tokyo & Community Arts at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Los Angeles. She also worked as a community organizer with Rising Voices, a non-profit focusing on developing the leadership of Asian American women, queer people and young people for power around progressive values and policy in the state of Michigan. Also an emerging artist, Celeste’s practice explores themes of cultural amnesia, grief and collective resilience. 

She holds a BA in Social Theory & Practice from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Art & Ecology from the Burren College of Art.
