Dear Friends,
For Filipino American History Month (FAHM) this October, we celebrate Filipino Americans who have been instrumental in shaping Asian American advocacy and who continue the work today. Although Filipino Americans have contributed significantly, their narratives are typically minimized or erased in history. Trailblazing leaders like Larry Itliong, who helped shape the farmworker movement through his cross-racial collaboration with Cesar Chavez in the Delano Grape strike, and Dr. Dawn Bohulano Mabalon, who fought to preserve the Little Manila in Stockton from demolition and revitalize its historic buildings, are some of the many leaders who have inspired the critical work of our member organizations today.
Join us in celebrating our member organizations, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) and Filipino Migrant Center (FMC), who fearlessly advocate for and continue to advance, enrich, and support the growing Filipino American community in Los Angeles, home to the largest Filipino community outside of the Philippines!
