AAPI Equity Alliance released a multilingual voter guide ahead of California’s Nov. 3 general election, targeting Asian American and Pacific Islander voters with information on statewide propositions and local measures in Los Angeles County.
The guide is available in English and 12 Asian languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Nepali, Punjabi, Tagalog, Thai, Urdu and Vietnamese.
The organization is also urging AAPI voters to verify their registration and make a plan for voting before Election Day.
“Voting early is our first line of defense,” Manjusha P. Kulkarni, executive director of AAPI Equity Alliance, said in a statement. She cited concerns about immigration enforcement and potential election interference and said the guide is intended to help voters understand election terminology and the issues on the ballot.
The organization said 90 percent of registered AAPI voters surveyed plan to vote in the 2026 midterm elections, compared with 84 percent in 2022.
The guide comes as California’s election process moves into its final weeks. County election officials began mailing ballots Oct. 5, and the deadline to register to vote online is Oct. 19. Active registered voters receive vote-by-mail ballots and can return them by mail, at a ballot drop box or in person.
California voters will also decide several statewide propositions, including measures concerning housing bonds, the state’s rainy-day fund, health care and school funding, campaign financing, recall elections and voter identification.
As of Sept. 4, California had 23,164,977 eligible registered voters, according to the Secretary of State’s office, the highest registration total recorded in the state. Voters who miss the registration deadline can still register through conditional, or same-day, voter registration at their county elections office.
AAPI Equity Alliance is a coalition of more than 50 community-based organizations serving Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles County.
