LOS ANGELES – Citing threats to the upcoming midterm elections, leaders from AAPI Equity Alliance—the leading advocacy coalition representing over 50 community-based organizations serving 1.6 million Asian American and Pacific Islanders in Los Angeles County—today urged AAPI community members to make a voting plan before Election Day. Voters must know the issues, know their rights, and know where and how to vote.
The organization also released its 2026 voter guide for the November 3, 2026 General Election. The guide covers statewide propositions and local measures in Los Angeles County and is available in English and 12 Asian languages: Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Nepali, Punjabi, Tagalog, Thai, Urdu and Vietnamese.
“Voting early is our first line of defense,” said Manjusha P. Kulkarni, executive director of AAPI Equity Alliance. “With threats around immigration enforcement and other election interference, we want AAPI voters to understand what’s at stake and simplify confusing terminology, in the languages they speak, to make informed decisions when they cast their vote, whether by mail or in person. Our goal is to provide facts and information and make voting more accessible in these urgent times.”
Kulkarni emphasized this guide is meant to be a powerful educational tool and resource for voters to make a plan to cast their ballot with confidence. As the fastest-growing electorate in the country, AAPIs have the power to shape the upcoming election with 90% of AAPI registered voters saying they plan to vote in the 2026 midterm elections, up from 84% in 2022.
The voter guide is available at bit.ly/voterguide-2026.
Voters can check their voter registration and find their polling sites and secure drop boxes at https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place. AAPI voters who need in-language support can call the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk General Language Assistance Hotline (800) 815-2666, option 3. If they experience problems at the polls on or before Election Day, they can call APIAVote’s multilingual voter hotline: 1-888-API-VOTE (1-888-274-8683).
